Paulie Pastrami Achieves World Peace - The Review

  • Format: Hardcover
  • Author: James Proimos
  • Publisher: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers
  • ISBN: 978-0-316-03292-6

Seven year-old Paulie, an ordinary boy, brings peace to his home and school through small acts of kindness, but needs help to achieve his goal of world peace.

Review: I love Paulie Pastrami! His idea of making the world a better place one person, animal, or plant, at a time is incredible.  Paulie finally achieves world peace with the help of his father, the family 68 VW Bug, and a heaping helping of cupcakes.  The only thing that could make this book better? A cupcake!  I highly recommend this book for parents that want to teach their kids a little something about generosity and good will.

Buffalo Wings: The Review

  • Format: Hardcover
  • Author: Aaron Reynolds, Illustrator: Paulette Bogan
  • Publisher: Bloomsbury U.S.A. Children's Books
  • ISBN: 978-1-59990-062-9

While searching for the perfect Super Bowl snack, Rooster comes across a recipe for buffalo wings and, before reading it completely, goes in search of what he believes is the missing ingredient.

Review: Just in time for the season! I found this treasure of a book while perusing the shelves at the Rochester Hills Public Library. I love how the animals on the farm come together to throw a spectacular viewing party, referring to Mrs. Nuthatcher's cookbook for the best recipes.  I thought it was a very funny tale, not many places you see a rooster driving a truck. The illustrations in this story are just what it needs to put it over the top! A must read for any child!

Until next time,
